Pitt Researchers Find Promising Candidate Protein for Cancer Prevention Vaccines

PITTSBURGH, August 4, 2009 – Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine have learned that some healthy people naturally developed an immune response against a protein that is made in excess levels in many cancers, including breast, lung, and head and neck cancers. The finding suggests that a vaccine against the protein might prevent malignancies in high-risk individuals.

New Internal Pilot Projects Funded

Karmanos Cancer Institute The Karmanos Cancer Institute made an investment in funding new pilot projects and awarded $25,000 each to 16 internal Strategic Research Initiative Grant new pilot projects. Prostate Cancer Screening and Trust of Physician Evaluated
