BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo Sabres coach, Lindy Ruff, and Buffalo Sabres Hockey Analyst, Mike Robitaille, join Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) for the 2nd Annual “Celebrating You” Prostate Cancer Event.

All prostate cancer survivors and patients, regardless of where treatment was received, are invited to attend, with a guest, Saturday, June 13 from 10 am – noon, in the Research Studies Center, RPCI.

The event, hosted by the Prostate Cancer Center Team at Roswell Park, gives prostate cancer patients and survivors a chance to meet the Buffalo Sabres head coach, Lindy Ruff, talk with Buffalo Sabres Hockey Analyst, Mike Robitaille, and win an autographed Jason Pominville stick and Ryan Miller jersey.

The celebration features guest speaker, Lindy Ruff, who knows the importance of teamwork on the ice and will share how it also takes a team to bring home a win off the ice, in the fight against cancer. Mike Robitaille will moderate a panel discussion featuring Roswell Park prostate cancer experts as they offer insights into quality of life issues men face throughout the journey with prostate cancer.

“Prostate cancer survivors will have an opportunity to engage in candid conversations and hear inspirational information about survivorship and quality of life issues,” said James Mohler, MD, Chair of the Department of Urology at RPCI. “Roswell Park doctors will provide valuable information so survivors can take positive steps toward making their prostate cancer journey easier.”

One in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, the most common type of cancer among American men. In Western New York, more than 1,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year. More than 2 million men in the United Sates, who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point, are still alive today.
