Through this annual conference and the AACR family of journals, including the newest journal, Cancer Prevention Research, AACR will continue to serve as a central point for disseminating information and cultivating the interactions that are so vital to advancing the cancer prevention field. The latest research in basic, clinical, epidemiologic, and behavioral science will be presented throughout the conference. Our outstanding committee of twenty co-chairpersons represents the diverse range of interests and scientific expertise that is required to develop such a comprehensive program.
Highlighting a program of extraordinary presentations, Dr. Douglas R. Lowy of the National Cancer Institute will deliver the Distinguished Lecture on Targets for Cancer Prevention, and Dr. Judith Campisi of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory will deliver the Keynote Lecture during the Opening Plenary Session. Session formats will include educational, plenary, organ site, and poster sessions as well as the Seventh Annual AACR Prevent Cancer Foundation Award Lecture for Excellence in Cancer Prevention Research.
The 2008 program will cover a wide variety of cancer prevention topics and will specifically highlight some of the latest developments in the tumor microenvironment, international prevention mechanisms, integrative prevention, and targeted prevention and treatment. In addition, based on its previous success, Dr. Waun Ki Hong will once again chair a special forum focused on the professional advancement and mentoring of young investigators.
This popular Frontiers in Cancer Prevention Research Conference promotes public, academic, government and industry awareness of the vital importance of cancer prevention science in reducing cancer incidence and mortality. It catalyzes coordinated, focused research that promises to accelerate cancer prevention.
