NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 24 - People who become infected with HIV in their 20s and 30s can expect to live into their 60s or 70s if they initiate treatment early with combination antiretroviral therapy (cART), according to an article in the July 26 issue of The Lancet by the multinational Antiretroviral Therapy Cohort Collaboration.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) Jul 24 - Antiretroviral therapy that reduces plasma viral load to undetectable levels is no guarantee that the HIV-infected individual is no longer infectious, epidemiologists in Australia report in the July 26 issue of The Lancet. They present data suggesting that failure to use condoms following effective treatment could substantially increase sexual transmission of HIV.
